Sarah--Elizabeth Portrait Color WIP 01 by dendorrity Sarah--Elizabeth Portrait Color WIP 01 by dendorrity
This is where I am at currently on coloring the portrait of Sarah--Elizabeth. This is a new technique for me and the first time I have tried it in a painting. I am learning as I go. I would love for you to tell me how you think it is going.

Sarah has some wonderful images in her gallery. Here is the link to her DA page:

I am now in the process of coloring the image.- D

I am not much of a critique but :omfg: this looks REALLY interesting and impressive.

Can't wait to see more of what you've got up your artistic sleeve

Thank you. My inspiration for art does not come from my degree.

Thanks for the compliments and I appreciate your interest in my future works.

Thank you! This is still a WIP though. I have told myself that I won't post any more WIPs in my main gallery because I get all these favs on them and then I release the real image. I am actually working on finishing this one up tonight. Hope you like the finished version even more.

Thank you . . . I just posted on your profile. I greatly appreciate the compliment. I am still not done with this work . . . I really shouldn't have posted it, but I was afraid to take it to the next level at the time. I am almost complete with the final details and will post the final version shortly.

You have a beautiful gallery and I really like the style that you have with your work. Really nice job!

:D To my eyes, this is already absolutely brilliant, but I'll be excited to see the new version. I hope you'll keep them both up, at least for a while, so I could do some further study. It would be very interesting for me to observe what were the details you wanted to enhance & how you went about it!

Thanks on my gallery. Your encouragement means a lot. I come from a line art background, but I'm starting to discover I might have it in me to more. Can't say that I would have found my style quite yet, but I'm trying things out and just having fun with it for now. ;)

That's great! I wish I had more of an attitude with my art that you have. I am so focused and intent on getting better at my work, that I sometimes forget to have fun with it.

I will be keeping up what I have already published in my main gallery. If you are interested in seeing progression though, I use the scrapbook part of my gallery to post Work In Progress (WIP) images and send them to the people I am painting. I also put some sketches that I am currently painting into art I plan to post to my gallery. If you are interested in looking, you can get to my scrapbook from this link:

Thank you for the watch too!

I used to get really uptight about music, back in the days when I was trying to make it as a musician. With visual arts, I'm not trying to make it into a career, so I find myself way more relaxed about it, even if my natural perfectionism does sometimes hinder me. LOL!

Oh, goodie good! I'm heading to check out your scrapbook! :)

I'm enjoying where I am at with my art, but I always want to improve. I think I should focus more on doing it for the fun of doing rather than just focusing on how I can improve. Make myself a little more relaxed.

Well, fun talking with you again. Hope to see your new painting shortly.

Thank you . . . you should go by the models site and tell her as well. She is a really nice lady who sent me a message asking if I would paint a picture of her. It turned out good so far. I have a few final adjustments to make, but I am glad she asked me.

Well . . . I've had to learn everything from watching others and just practicing. I've got 4 portraits in the works and a lot of other people asking to get them done. Right now I am just practicing . . . by the time I get to the 4th . . . I will probably put up a tutorial on how I paint.

Hey Nick . . . long time no talk man. Probably my fault . . . er . . . it is my fault. Well, I am trying to pick my art skills back up in case you haven't noticed. Thanks for the compliment. How are things in your neck of the woods? Still doing work for Marvel?

Eh...quite alright Sir...we all get busy. Yeah the painting is looking phenomenal... great work. Things are going pretty mediocre i guess. I'm currently doing some work with Marvel characters for a video game project of theirs.

Please don't call me sir. Makes me feel old and I was never an officer in the military either. I work for a living (just joking).

You still doing a lot of inking and writing? Are you allowed to say what type of work you are doing for Marvel? Animation? Etc . . .?

Thanks for the compliments BTW. Your work, as ever, is phenomenal.

Yes there is still a lot of finish work to do on the portrait. The technique I am using requires you to paint under the black and white, but you finish by painting all your finish layers on top.

I will probably be finished tomorrow.
